Experience governs Carmen’s approach: achieving a balance between pragmatic solutions to finalise matters quickly and the resolve in litigation to bring about results.
Carmen graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Adelaide in 2007. Since that time, Carmen has practiced exclusively in matrimonial law, the State and Federal schemes for de facto and same sex relationships. Carmen was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia in August 2008. She was then expected to attend in litigation and manage cases which required a strong technical ability and advocacy for the client.
Carmen has a keen interest in complex property proceedings and a proven record litigating applications for urgent relief, spousal maintenance and a division of property where there are complex intercompany arrangements, trusts and third-party intervenors. Over several years Carmen was regularly engaged before the Court as Counsel for the Independent Children’s Lawyer and is now accredited as a child representative. Carmen has also handled a range of international disputes involving the relocation of children and Hague Convention proceedings. Carmen brings to all of her matters unwavering ethics and a demand for excellence, whilst providing a compassionate and personable legal service.
