Incorrect photo labelled ‘teenage terrorist’ could lead to defamation case

An incorrect photo labelled ‘teenage terrorist’ was printed on the front page of The Age this week.

The story that accompanied this photo was regarding the attempted murder of two police offices but the paper published the wrong photo of the suspect.

The caption that accompanied the photo implies that the boy was a terrorist which was incorrect and therefore is considered defamatory.

Patrick Boylen, Partner at DBH chats to Will Goodings on 5AA about what the consequences could be for The Age regarding a defamation case.
